AMSCD Approves Sign Policy; Details Still Vague

The Ave Maria Stewardship Community District approved a motion Tuesday that delegates authority to town developers to decide which signs can be put up along major roadways. The district board also swore in its newest member, Jim Carletta, and approved a number of other housekeeping resolutions.

The Donahue Academy Shamrocks will make their third trip in four years to the state 8-man football championships after soundly defeating Old Plank Christian School from Jacksonville 47-6 at North Park in Ave Maria.

The annual Celebration of Lights in Ave Maria Friday drew another large crowd who enjoyed the parade, food, a visit from Santa and popular activities such as skating on an artificial ice rink. Above, Rory Campbell, 7, on the rink.

Sign Policy and Election Among Topics on AMSCD Agenda

The Ave Maria Stewardship Community District will be unloading a thorny problem of who can put up promotional signs on district property to the town's developers under a proposal that will be discussed at the district's board meeting Tuesday, Dec. 6. Among other matters on the agenda is the formal approval of an "urban area" map that would pave the way for the direct election of one of the five members of the AMSCD board in the first half of 2017.
