 The Student Government Judiciary at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore has voted unanimously to grant official status to a pro-life group on campus, overturning a decision by the school's student government. The effort to re-establish the group was spearheaded by Donahue Academy graduate Andrew Guernsey (above left) and was extensively covered in mainstream media.

A U.S. District Court judge has dismissed on procedural grounds Ave Maria University's lawsuit against the Obamacare contraceptive mandate, saying that a ruling would be premature because AMU is not facing immediate penalties and regulations are still evolving. The decision mirrors many similar decisions involving Catholic dioceses and universities.

 Governor Rick Scott will be Ave Maria University's 2013 commencement speaker, the school announced Thursday. Pumps are in and work continues at the gas station/convenience store on Ave Maria Blvd. Opening now is expected May 1, about a month behind schedule, said Phil Toye of Automated Petroleum and Energy, which will operate the station. Above, top, pumps being delivered and below, as they are installed.
The planned Maple Ridge development in Ave Maria represents the largest outside investment in the town since original construction started about eight years ago. The investment by homebuilder CC Devco in more than 600 acres also will provide some financial benefit to Tom Monaghan and Ave Maria University, part owners of the land.
