Donahue Shamrocks Roll into Playoffs Undefeated

The Donahue Academy Shamrocks soundly defeated Solid Rock 41-12 in Tarpon Springs Friday to finish their regular eight-man football season undefeated. The Shamrocks have a bye in the first round of the playoffs and will play their next game at home Nov. 18.

Ave Maria University Announces Plans for New Multi-Purpose Building

The first phase of the 37,000-square-foot, one-story academic building will have a 125-seat auditorium and at completion it will also house a 400-seat performance hall, classrooms, the school's nursing program, offices and a permanent home for the Mother Teresa museum.

Young Man Injured in Car Crash Early Sunday Morning

The Collier County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning on Ave Maria Blvd. that required the driver to be med-flighted to Lee Memorial Hospital. Police said alcohol was involved.

Second Resident Elected to AMSCD Board

carletta3Long-time Ave Maria resident Jim Carletta was elected to the board of the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District at a landowners meeting Tuesday. His seat is the one that will convert next year to the first seat directly elected by residents so he would need to run in a town-wide election if he wants to continue serving on the board.

Golf Cart Manual Up for Approval at Nov. 1 AMSCD Meeting

golfcartA manual spelling out rules and regulations for golf cart usage in Ave Maria – literally years in the making – will be up for approval at the Nov. 1 meeting of the board of the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District. The meeting also will have a "landowners' meeting" to elect three members of the five-member board whose terms are expiring.
