Second Resident Elected to AMSCD Board

carletta3Long-time Ave Maria resident Jim Carletta was elected to the board of the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District at a landowners meeting Tuesday. His seat is the one that will convert next year to the first seat directly elected by residents so he would need to run in a town-wide election if he wants to continue serving on the board.

Young Man Injured in Car Crash Early Sunday Morning

The Collier County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning on Ave Maria Blvd. that required the driver to be med-flighted to Lee Memorial Hospital. Police said alcohol was involved.

Donahue Secures Home Field for Playoffs

Quarterback Elias Allan had a big night passing and running Friday, leading the Donahue Academy Shamrocks to a 52-14 win over visiting Cape Coral. With the win, the undefeated Shamrocks secured a first-round playoff bye and clinched home field advantage for all playoff games except the league championship.

Golf Cart Manual Up for Approval at Nov. 1 AMSCD Meeting

golfcartA manual spelling out rules and regulations for golf cart usage in Ave Maria – literally years in the making – will be up for approval at the Nov. 1 meeting of the board of the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District. The meeting also will have a "landowners' meeting" to elect three members of the five-member board whose terms are expiring.

Obituary: Carmen Rivera, Longtime Ave Maria Resident

Carmen Rivera, who moved to Ave Maria in 2010, passed away Oct. 8 at age 71. Her funeral Mass will be at the Ave Maria Oratory at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.
