Ave Maria Law's Founding Dean Dies at Age 76

Bernard Dobranski, an accomplished legal educator who was the founding dean of the Ave Maria School of Law, has died, current dean Kevin Cieply announced Saturday.

New CrossFit Gym Planned for Ave Maria

Another fitness option is coming to Ave Maria, with a CrossFit gym planned to open later this year in the plaza with the Mobil gas station. The gym will be owned by Jason Gabauer, who operates the Martial Arts Fitness Academy in the same plaza, and his partner Wilson Ospina. Voters Cast Ballots in Ave Maria for First Time

Polls opened for the first time in Ave Maria Tuesday and Mary Stuller became the first resident to vote in person at the community center in town. Before the March 15 election, the closest polling place was in Immokalee.

The Donahue Academy varsity team placed fourth at the Collier County Scholar Bowl and in another competition, sisters Leila Joy and Sofia Isabel Castillo were finalists in a national essay contest sponsored by the Home School Legal Defense Association.
