An Ave Maria University student is facing felony charges of grand theft for stealing a letter from an entrance sign in Ave Maria. Other AMU students who may be involved have also been identified in what the Collier County Sheriff's Office calls an "active investigation."

All the letters spelling out Ave Maria at the town entrance from Camp Keais Rd., plus one at the main entrance at Oil Well Rd., have been stolen and only a few have been retrieved.
