AMU Begins NAIA Play

Ave Maria University sports competition kicked up a notch this week as teams began play against other members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Sun Conference.
The volleyball team was beaten 3-0 Sunday by conference-leading Embry-Riddle University before a loud and enthusiastic home crowd at the Donahue Academy. The loss evens the women's conference record to 1-1 (2-1 overall). They defeated Southeastern Saturday 3-2, winning their NAIA opener in Lakeland, FL.
The men's soccer team lost their first NAIA conference game Saturday, shutout 3-0 by Savannah College of Art and Design.
