Around the Neighborhoods kicks off with a report from June McCann, with news from her neighborhood, Del Webb.

If you live in Del Webb, and have news or photos to submit for Around the Neighborhoods, send them This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Around Del Webb
By June McCann

tinadelwebbJAZZ and BRUNCH...The newly refurbished Tidewater Club at Del Webb was the scene October 16 as Members enjoyed  made- to- order omelets along with  traditional breakfast breads, meats and fruits.   Soft jazz accompanied the delight of old friends renewing ties and welcoming  the newest Del Webb neighbors from Bellera Walk, now part of the Del Webb community.  It was also an opportunity to meet and welcome Tina Raymond, Del Webb Life Style Director-who arranged and produced this very pleasant  morning.

Down the Aisle and Down the Years...Del Webb residents John and Suzanne Calce have the unusual opportunity of having two daughters married within seven months.  Christina's nuptials November 6 in Washington, D.C., will be followed by Amy's on June 25.  When last reporting, Suzanne was deep in making 100 pew bows, flower girl headpieces, Christina's wedding veil and 30 crochet baskets for shower favors. A comment from Suzanne in October:  "John just doesn't seem to understand why I don't have time for a quick trip to Florida...what is it with guys????"

Celebrating 40 years of marriage were Ame and Carlos Figueroa on Sunday, September  5 with a renewal of their vows at the 7P.M. Mass, Father Garrity presiding.

Babies , Babies, Babies!!  Jane and Nick Healy's big news was the birth of John Francis Healy on Sunday September 5th in Silver Springs, Maryland.  John Francis is the fourth child of Nick, Jr. and Maruska Healy. Jane and Nick's grandchildren now number 9.

Pat and Ken Kleinrichert doubled their grandparenting  joy with the birth of twins-Tug Michael and Augy Kenneth on October 5th.  The twins are identical and also have identical twin sisters, age 7.

wurtz1Joe and JoEllen Monahan happily announced that granddaughter Sophia Marie Therese Wurtz  (left) was born on October 1. Sophia is the daughter of Joe and Megan Monahan Wurtz and joins siblings Mary Therese, 6, Anthony, 4, and  Boniface, 2.  Joe Wurtz is Dean of Students at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS.

Ready to get rid of golf clubs??  Jo Makley offers a suggestion on how to dispose of used golf clubs (other than heaving them into the nearest pond in frustration!!).  Jim Simpson at Panther Run Golf Course suggested that the First Tee Program, working with the children of Immokalee, would be happy to accept Jo's two ladies sets and one men's set of clubs.  Jim graciously expedited the handling and removal of the clubs for Jo.

Also in golf news:   Dee Justus, Del Webb's Panther Run Golf Club's 2009 Ladies 18 Hole Champion, has won the President's Cup at Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, CT.  This is the fourth time Dee has won the award and as Dee reports  she's "the oldest competitor ever to win-there's hope for us all!"

Del Webb Ladies Current Fiction Book Club-The first meeting of the season will be held at the Tidewater Club on Plymouth Place on Thursday, November 18, at 1 P.M.  The book for discussion is Sarah's Key by Tatiana DeRosnay.   Guests and friends are welcome to attend. A light lunch will be served.   Please RSVP to June McCann at 659-4559 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.   by Nov. 15.

The next meeting will be January 20th for a discussion of The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
