Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's full life included advice and support for the Ave Maria School of Law when it was getting established in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Law school founder Tom Monaghan said in a statement Saturday that the school is "grateful for the time he spent with us -- particularly in our formative years...helping to advise us on issues of curriculum and coming to inspire our faculty and students with our presence.
The law school, which is independent of Ave Maria University, was founded in Ann Arbor in 1999 and moved to its current Naples, FL, location in 2009.
Mr. Monaghan said Justice Scalia's nearly 30 years on the United States Supreme Court will have enormous impact in the future.
"He most certainly has left a legacy that will not fully be comprehended for some years to come," he said.
