Athletes, Coaches Honored at Donahue Sports Awards Dinner

donahuesports-smith200donahuesports-cheffers200aThe Donahue Academy honored standouts in its growing sports program Monday night at the school's Sports Awards Dinner.

Tommy Smith and Joan Cheffers were the first recipients of the newly-created Alex Klucik Leadership Award which recognizes academic and athletic achievement as well as leadership and dedication to Catholic values. The award is named for Matthew "Alex" Klucik who died in a car accident the summer he graduated from the Donahue Academy in 2010.  (pictured, Joan Cheffers with Athletic Director Rich Scanlon; Tommy Smith with his coach Mauricio Ramirez)
