Donahue Wins Football Season Opener

Elias Allan started the Donahue football season with a bang, throwing for five touchdowns -- four of those to his brother Dominic -- and passing for a total of 286 yards to lead the Donahue Shamrocks to a 38-18 win over Oasis from Cape Coral at North Park in Ave Maria Friday night.

Dominic Allan had a total of 148 receiving yards on 8 receptions, including his four touchdowns. Mark Cheffers had his first touchdown reception and had 7 receptions for 105 yards.

Matt Klein led the defense with 8 tackles, a forced fumble, a sack and a tackle for a loss. Aidan Kelly added 7 tackles and 2 for a loss. JP Klucik and Thomas Donohue had fumble recoveries as the defense forced two turnovers.

The Shamrocks travel to Clearwater to play Clearwater Academy for their next game Friday night, and are back home in Ave Maria Saturday, Sept. 13, to take on Spring Hill Christian.
