Football: Donahue 38 Nicea 6

sixman9-25-1aDonahue Academy won its final home game of the sixman football regular season in a big way -- beating a less-experienced team from Nicea Academy of Naples 38-6 at North Park. Right, Donahue senior Dan Scarnecchia after scoring the game's first touchdown (photos - Roy Lenardson)

sixman9-25-3aGabe Allan and Dan Scarnecchia each scored two touchdowns and Cameron Joyce added one as the Shamrocks improved to 4-1 on the year. Their next game is away against Island Christian School of Islamorada.

Leading 38-0 at the half, coach Rich Scanlon was again able to use many players in the second half that normally might not see as much playing time. Left, Nick Jaroma is all smiles after the first half. Below, an equally pleased ball boy Thomas Dauphinais.

Two Shamrocks players were injured in the game. Anders Lenardson fractured and dislocated his right elbow and will undergo surgery Monday to reconnect a bone and sixman9-25-2aalign the joint. Michael John Dauphinais suffered a knee injury, possibly hyperextension, toward the end of the game.

" I am disappointed that we may have lost two tremendous players for an extended period of time, perhaps the season," said Coach Scanlon after the game. "Anders and Michael John both were having outstanding games and our coaching staff thanks them for their hard work, effort and dedication."
