Ave Maria Fighters Shine at Taekwondo Championships

The Martial Arts Fitness Academy of Ave Maria is relatively new, but its young students have already started to make an impact nationally.
Six fighters from MAFA won medals at the AAU Taekwondo national championships which ended Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, with the best performance turned in by Lily Northon who won a silver medal in sparring.
"We had a great week, but Lily was the standout," MAFA owner Jason Gabauer said. "Her story is amazing. From the shy girl last year that was scared of the sport to the girl that had 4 fights in less than an 75 minutes and was 2nd out of the 14 best girls at her level in the country."
