County Commissioners Approve Incentives for Arthrex Ave Maria Expansion

Collier County commissioners have approved a $573,000 package of incentives for Arthrex to further expand its mushrooming Ave Maria manufacturing facility.

The incentives basically waive impact fees that Arthrex would have to pay the county for the 161,000-square-foot expansion to the 190,000-square-foot building that Arthrex opened on Oil Well Rd. less than three years ago. The company quickly added another adjacent 55,000-square-foot building.

Arthrex says the new expansion will create 350 new jobs, which will bring the total employment at the Ave Maria campus to more than 1,000.

Commissioner Penny Taylor praised the company, which is a major factor in the county economy. "It's not only that they're high paying, it's that they're offering entry-level jobs," Commissioner Penny Taylor said. "They reach out to Immokalee and FGCU, and they train their employees. They're on the cutting edge of new medical procedures, and we couldn't ask for a better company here in Collier County."

Arthrex has one of the highest corporate rates of employee retention and was recently ranked by Fortune magazine as the 62nd best place to work in the United States.
