If all goes according to plan, parishioners at Ave Maria quasi parish will have a new gathering space sometime in March.
Work has begun on the buildout of the 1,750 parish center located behind the oratory on the corner of Annunciation Circle and Pope John Paul II Blvd., next to the parish offices.
Fr. Mayer announced last summer that the parish met the goal of raising $25,0000 to build the center, which will be used for parish meetings, faith formation classes, social events and "fellowship after Sunday Mass." There were the inevitable Collier County delays in securing appropriate permits but now that they all have come through, Fr. Mayer and contractor Michael Mastandrea say they hope to have the work finished in time to open the center in March. (Above, Fr. Mayer examining the installation of the ceiling. Workmen are currently putting in the ceiling and HVAC, which will be followed by installation of plumbing, flooring and painting.
