Salon d'Maria Expands Services

Salon d'Maria has welcomed both women and men since opening in the Ave Maria town center about a year and a-half ago, but many men may not have felt comfortable in what was clearly a female-oriented shop. Now, the salon has opened a separate men's barber room catering specifically to guys.
The barber room (right) has high-definition television showing sports and business channels, sports memorabilia on the walls and provides services such as hot lather shaves, hot towels and haircuts in all men's styles.
Resident Patrick Hanley, one of the barber room's first customers, says he enjoyed the atmosphere and thought "male customers will definitely appreciate the fact that they need not obtain a haircut in a ladies salon atmosphere."
The sports theme of the barber room was emphasized recently when former NFL running back Ki-Jana Carter (center at left) stopped in, along with AMU head football coach Barry Fagan (on the left in picture) and team trainer Chris Fertal. Mr. Carter and Coach Fagan both played college football at Penn State under legendary coach Joe Paterno.
The salon has also added massage therapy to its services which include nails, skin care and waxing.
Massage therapy is provided by Kathy Delaney, who has been a licensed massage therapist for 21 years. Mrs. Delaney lives with her family in Emerson Park.
She specializes in stress reduction, deep tissue, sports, myofacial, pregnancy, acupressure and aromatherapy massages.
Salon d'Maria is open Monday-Saturday. More information is available at the salon's website here.
