Music and family fun highlight activities in Ave Maria and Naples this weekend.

A new community theater group in Ave Maria will be presenting A Night on Broadway Saturday night at 8 p.m. in the student union ballroom. The show features 18 performers -- the youngest of whom is seven years old -- including students, town residents and university staff. They'll be presenting 21 different numbers, largely from Broadway musicals, including vocals and instrumentals.

A Night on Broadway is directed by Catherine Bauer who has directed several Ave Maria University student performances. Tickets are $5 and wine, coffee and snacks will be available at intermission.

The combined Ave Maria choirs are also giving two performances of Choral Spring -- music for the Easter season -- accompanied by an 11-piece orchestra. The concert is offered Friday evening at 7 p.m. in the Ave Maria Oratory and at 3 p.m. Sunday at Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples. The Friday performance is free, although a good will offering is asked, and the Sunday performance has an admission charge of $15. Proceeds benefit the Ave Maria University department of music.

The Ave Maria waterpark is the site Saturday for the Collier County 4-H "Spring Fling," which features a barbecue, children's activities, a chance to get close-up looks at Collier Sheriff's Department equipment and displays of animals. The event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a $10 admission includes a BBQ lunch.

The Ave Maria School of Law also is sponsoring two events in Naples as part of its "Conversations with..." series. Friday, former U.S. Attorney General Ed Meese will speak from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton Naples Beach hotel. Monday, Fox News Channel founder Roger Ailes will appear at the Ritz Carlton Golf Resort from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A $25 donation is suggested for each event and more details are available here.
