kaitlin3aA recent Marian conference at Ave Maria offered spiritual inspiration in myriad ways – but many who attended were particularly moved by a display of artwork by Kaitlin Karbach, a young local artist with special needs.

One of those touched by Kaitlin's drawings was EWTN television personality Raymond Arroyo who spoke of her talent at the end of his talk at the conference. Pictured, Mr. Arroyo with Kaitlin at the conference)

Kaitlin's mother, Ruth Karbach, says that it is Kaitlin's particular joy to share her art with others. She has given drawings to many friends and neighbors in Ave Maria. "She always receives such love and encouragement which has helped Kaitlin grow in faith and confirm her purpose on earth, receive God's love, and share His love with other people," Mrs. Karbach said.

kaitlin6aHer penchant for sharing her art prompted Kaitlin to present a weather-related drawing to NBC-2 meterologist Rob Duns when he came to Ave Maria to participate in a session for residents on hurricane preparedness. Impressed by Kaitlin and the drawing, Mr. Duns invited Kaitlin to visit the NBC-2 studio, where he put her drawing on the air and let Kaitlin do a mock weather report.

Kaitlin began drawing with a pencil and paper but switched to working mainly on an iPad which her mother says has helped her add so much of the vibrancy in her drawings. "Kaitlin said she loves to use joyful colors in her art because the joy is given to other people."

Mrs. Karbach said she has asked Kaitlin if she thinks her special needs have helped her create better art, and she replied, "Yes, because she sees things with bright and beautiful colors."

kaitlin1aOver the last year, Mrs. Karbach said, Kaitlin has made it a practice to put a heart in every work of art she does because, "Her heart goes into her art, which is so true."

She has recently begun making some of her art available for sale in posters and cards. Anyone interested in more information on ordering Kaitlin's art can email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
