AMU Graduates Largest Class Ever at 2015 Commencement

Commencement festivities at Ave Maria University concluded Saturday morning with the awarding of 202 bachelors degrees, 26 masters degrees and one doctorate at the university's Golisano Field House. (Above, the traditional hat toss by graduates following the Baccalaureate Mass Friday.)

It was the university's largest graduating class in its eleven-year history.

The 26 masters degrees included 14 Masters of Theological Studies degrees which were the last to be awarded from the university's Institute of Pastoral Theology program which began winding down more than a year ago. (See earlier Ave Herald story on the IPT program here)

Commencement activities began Friday afternoon with the Baccalaureate Mass and President's Dinner at which Peter Atkinson was named this year's recipient of the President's Award, the university's highest honor which recognizes superior academic achievement, service to the university community and a personification of the school's Catholic ideals.
