Gina Code, hired as headmaster at the Rhodora J. Donahue Academy in Ave Maria only a year ago, is leaving at the end of the current academic year "to pursue other professional opportunities," the school's board of directors announced Thursday.
The school's statement said one of its teachers, Mark Jahnke, will serve as interim headmaster beginning July 1.
Mrs. Code, who had served as principal at a Catholic school in Cincinnati, was chosen as Donahue's second headmaster after a nationwide search last year. She succeeded Donahue's founding headmaster, Dan Guernsey, who now heads the education program at Ave Maria University.
Mr. Jahnke joined the staff of the Donahue Academy last fall, teaching humanities and math. He had been a teacher and administrator at Holy Family Academy in Minneapolis.
Donahue had previously named another teacher, Tyler Graham, as Academic Dean in January, 2015, a position he holds in addition to his teaching responsibilities at the school.
