AMU Drama Club Presents "Pirates of Penzance" Nov. 20-22

Katie Miller, director of this autumn's drama club production at AMU, says the decision to stage the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta The Pirates of Penzance was the result of much thought and some prayer too, on the part of herself and a few other students.
The AMU sophomore, who has done theater all her life, and who was involved in almost every production at her high school, says she took over directing about 30 percent of the musical numbers for the cabaret that was held at AMU last spring, and became even more deeply involved with the drama club after that.
Ms. Miller says she's been delighted to work with assistant director Paula Shute, a junior, who has been responsible for much of the paperwork, logistics and coordination of the play, and junior Zach Rappley who will accompany on the piano, and whose musical abilities Ms. Miller calls "fantastic." The production will be held in the university ballroom on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20-22, at 7 pm. Tickets are $9 in advance (order through brownpapertickets.com) and $10 at the door, with a maximum admission fee of $45 for families of five or more.
