The combined voices of over 120 singers\, accompanied by a f
ull professional orchestra and world-class pianist\, John Robilette\, will
perform a Back to Beethoven: An Epic Journey program of 19th century mast
erworks in Ft. Myers March 25.
The Ave Maria University choirs
will collaborate with the Symphonic Chorale of Southwest Florida to showca
se works of Dvorak\, Brahms and Beethoven under the direction of Timothy M
cDonnell\, chair of the Ave Maria University department of music and direc
tor of the Southwest Florida Chorale.
The performance will be a
t the South Fort Myers High School Theater\, 14020 Plantation Road\, in Fo
rt Myers.
The program includes Dvorak's Mass in D Major\, Brahm
s's Shicksalslied and concludes with a rare performance of one of Beethove
n's greatest and most inspiring masterpieces\, The Fantasia\, Op. 80\, for
piano\, orchestra and concert chorus.
The Fantasia\, a precur
sor to Beethoven's great Ninth Symphony\, will feature acclaimed piano sol
oist John Robillete\, whom European critics have described as 'a throwback
to the golden age of piano playing.'The professional orchestral musicians
are donating their services for the March 24 concert. Tickets are $18 and

The International Day of Prayer and Rem
embrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo\, and All of Our Vulnerable Brothers
and Sisters (“Terri's Day”) was established in 2007 and is observed each y
ear on or around March 31\, the date of Terri's death.
The purpose of this day is to foster ed
ucation\, prayer\, and activism regarding discrimination against the cogni
tively disabled\, and advocacy for people in situations similar to what Te
rri and her family faced.
Steve Schultz will be offering a course in wilderness surviv
al from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday\, March 31\, at the Tidewater Club in De
l Webb.
Steve developed this course based on the survival train
ing provided to members of our armed forces who face combat-zone survival
situations. He has taught this course for hundreds of people\, young and o
ld\, including members of the Civil Air Patrol\, the Boy Scouts of America
\, as well as regular citizens interested in gaining skills to deal with t
he unexpected.

ociety and what she can do to change it.

aker is Kay S. Hymowitz\, the William E. Simon Fellow at the Manhattan Ins
titute and a contributing editor of City Journal. She writes extensively o
n childhood\, family issues\, poverty\, and cultural change in America. Hy
