 rformance\, pedagogy and chamber music at Ave Maria University.Geoffrey Da
 y is currently in his eighteenth season as a violinist with the Naples Phi
 lharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Day has performed frequently as member of the Nea
 politan Quartet and as a recitalist with his wife\, pianist Lan Lam.John M
 arcy is assistant principal cellist in the Naples Philharmonic.  Along wit
 h his wife\, Naples Philharmonic Orchestra principal oboist Judy Christy\,
  he performs in the Christy Oboe Quartet\, which recently released a CD of
  music by Mozart\, Britten\, J.C. Bach and James Stephenson.\n

 ta (Bira) Rezende\, a politics professor at AMU and director of the school
 's Business Institute.Dr. Rezende recently returned from his native Brazil
 \, where he served for a year as the Secretary of the Treasury for the Bra
 zilian state of Santa Catarina and was a member of the Brazilian national 
 treasury board. He will share his reflections on the country and discuss s
 ocialism and its relevance to the U.S. elections this year.\nThe meeting i
 s Friday\, Jan. 20\, and starts with Mass in the oratory at 5 p.m. followe
 d by dinner at The Bean of Ave Maria after which Dr. Rezende will speak.

 rtment of Politics at Ave Maria University\, and the director of the schoo
 l's Institute of Business. He came to Ave Maria University in 2007 from Br
 azil after successfully managing a political campaign for the Brazilian Se
 nate in the State of Santa Catarina. He served the Organization of the Ame
 rican States as its Chief of Staff\, in Washington D.C.\, The World Bank a
 s a Consultant\, in Washington D.C.\, and The La Roche College as its Dean
  of Graduate Programs\, in Pittsburgh. His research interests include the 
 legitimacy of political regimes\, the politics of economics\, business as 
 a political phenomenon and history of political ideas. He teaches courses 
 in Comparative Politics\, History of Political Thought\, Management and Et
 hics and Business Law. Dr. Rezende holds the degrees of Juris Doctor from 
 the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul\, Brazil\, M.P.A from the Univ
 ersity of Southern California\, a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Ca
 lifornia and a Master in Theology from the John Lateran University's John 
 Paul II Institute. He has taught at the Federal University of Rio Grande d
 o Sul\, Brazil\, Federal University of Santa Catarina\, Brazil and at Paul
  Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins Un
 iversity.
