Father Robert Garrity\, a Can on Lawyer and theology professor at Ave Maria University\, will explain th e legal process by which a Papal Conclave of Cardinals elects a new Pope a t 12:05 p.m. Friday\, Feb. 15\, in the lecture hall of the AMU academic bu ilding. All are welcome to attend and bring a 'brown-bag' lunch if desired . The talk is expected to last about 20 minutes followed by time for discu ssion and for those who might arrive late after the noon Mass\, there will be a summary of the presentation and a one-page handout.

\nThe conference opens Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm\, with a keyn ote lecture ('Towards a new culture of liturgical music: Why we should thi nk of doing things differently') by Monsignor Andrew Wadsworth. In the eve ning\, Feb. 15\, at 7 pm\, a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form wi ll be celebrated\, at which the Ave Maria University Chamber Choir will pe rform William Byrd's Mass for Four Voices and the Gregorian chant Propers will be sung by the AMU Women's Schola Gregoriana.
\nSaturday's events include Workshops in singing Gregori an Chant in English\, incorporating Gregorian Chant into parish life\, ins truction for Priests and Deacons in Chanting the Mass in the New English T ranslation\, Church documents & sacred music in the 20th and 21st Century\ ; and a choice of participating in scholae for experienced and beginner si ngers.
\nThe closing Mass Saturday evening will be a sung Mass in English in the Ordinary Form with music provided b y conference participants. Bishop Frank Dewane had been scheduled to presi de at the Mass but will not be able to do so due to illness.
