A rare reading of the entire epic poem The Iliad will take place beginning Friday, Feb. 8, and ending Saturday evening, Feb. 9.
Readers -- which will include AMU students, faculty, staff and others -- will use a modern translation of Homer's work by University of Kansas Professor Stanley Lombardo, who wanted the work to be understood by today's audiences when it is presented orally, as it was originally intended.
Prof. Lombardo will read the final book of The Iliad himself, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday.
The reading will be preceded by a faculty colloquium that examines the final book at 5 p.m. Friday.

All of the event is open to the public, and there is no charge.
