Holy Thursday: Choral Mass sung by members of the Ave Maria University choral ensembles
Twenty-five AMU students - members of the various University choral ensembles and scholae - will perform a special choral Mass under the direction of Prof. Rebecca Ostermann for the Mass of the Lord's Supper, Thursday, March 28 at 7 pm in the oratory. The choir has prepared choral selections from across the rich repertoire of music composed for the Triduum, uniting centuries and nationalities in this singular focus on the events of the Passion of the Christ. Music will include a stirring setting of the Gloria with organ by 20th-century Hungarian composer Lajos Bárdos, as well as smaller treasures by Canadian composer Healy Willan, Heinrich Schütz of the German baroque, the great Italian High Renaissance master, Palestrina, and others more recent and more ancient.
